What to expect

The Assessment Process

Our assessment follows NICE guidance and uses validated clinical tools. It is thorough, structured and designed to give you a clear, defensible answer — not a rushed tick-box exercise.

Before your appointment

After booking you’ll receive secure links to validated screening questionnaires, a developmental history form, and — where possible — a short informant questionnaire for someone who knew you as a child. These are completed from home at your own pace.

The diagnostic interview

The assessment itself is a structured clinical interview of at least 2 hours, available in person or by secure video — and it can be split across more than one appointment day if a single session would be too much. Your clinician explores current symptoms across settings, childhood history, mental and physical health, and the impact ADHD-type difficulties have on your daily life. There is time to ask questions throughout.

Your report

You receive a full diagnostic report, normally within 10 working days, together with a letter for your GP. The report sets out the evidence considered, the diagnostic conclusion, and clear recommendations — whether or not ADHD is diagnosed. If the assessment suggests a different explanation for your difficulties, we say so honestly and signpost appropriate support.
